Produced from 1953 until 1959, the so-called Ponton generation of Mercedes-Benz sedans was the marque's first unibody, monocoque offering, and also a safety leader, featuring early crumple zones and a "safety cell".
This example of the W121 is a manual-shift 190 from 1957, and in mostly original condition, although it has been repainted (a lovely blue hue). It is the ideal car for a buyer who wishes to get into classic Mercedes-Benz ownership with a project, but one which is almost entirely "all there". It is also worth noting that Ponton values are on the way up, so this could be a good investment in the long term.
Inside, the car is original and a good basis for a detailed restoration. Most importantly, this Ponton drives well with good torque from its four-cylinder engine and a relaxing gait (once you get used to the four-speed column shift). The brakes are also in good, working condition.
