The Jaguar E-Type is widely regarded as a motoring icon and its success came from a combination of high performance, beauty and competitive pricing. Enzo Ferrari was known to have commented that the E-Type was the most beautiful car ever made.
Success at Le Mans was largely responsible for the strong performance of the XK straight-six engines as well as the aerodynamic design. It is one of only six automobiles to reside in the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in recognition of its significance in the design world.
According to this example's accompanying Heritage Certificate, this Jaguar E-Type is a Series 2 4.2L with the open two-seater body style in right-hand drive. It was manufactured on the 9th of January 1970 and dispatched to its first owner on the 27th of February 1970 by Henly's of London.
This example retains its original (matching numbers) engine, is in excellent condition and has been maintained to a very high standard by its current owner and has been used regularly.
Shortly after purchasing this example five years ago the following work was carried out on this example:
- Full respray to silver.
- Engine rebuild.
- Rear subframe bushes replaced.
