Built in record numbers (for a SL generation), the R107 was produced for a staggering 17 years, from 1972 to 1989. A go-to car for the well-heeled, the R107 offered decent performance, luxury and pure class, no matter which of the models you chose.
The SL500 was introduced in 1980 and was powered by an all-aluminium 5.0L V8 engine that delivered 177kW and just over 400Nm of torque. It's not so much a sportscar as a fast, relaxed cruiser, however, with a top speed of about 225kph.
This example was first delivered in the UK in November 1981 and has only covered 88 050 miles. It was ordered in Astral Silver (735G) with a blue interior and the hardtop roof finished in Lapis Blue Metallic.
