For Sale - Mercedes-Benz (W108) 280S
First introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1965, the Mercedes-Benz W108 series set a new standard for mass produced luxury saloons of the time.
The W108 was penned by none other than the legendary Paul Bracq, also known for designing the Mercedes Benz W113 "Pagoda", who took inspiration from the W111 luxury convertibles and coupes which are often mistaken as being part of the W108 series.
In 1967 the second series of W108s were introduced with in-line 6-cylinder overhead cam engines now upgraded to 2,8 litres (M130) with the 280s fueled by two twin-barrel downdraft Zenith carburettors.
This example was built in East London and is finished in the beautiful Arabian Grey colour with a local style tan leather interior. It has a desirable period-correct air-conditioning system as well as Becker Grand Prix radio.
Recent maintenance includes the fitment of four new Sachs shock absorbers, rebuilt carburettors, new rear subframe mountings and a refurbished air conditioning system with a new compressor.
This Mercedes Benz exudes timeless style and is a user-friendly classic that can by enjoyed regularly.
It is priced at R285 000 and available for viewing at the Crossley & Webb showroom in Gardens Cape Town.
