Undoubtedly one of the most glamorous cars of all time, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster is the first release in our new series that pays tribute to the world’s most iconic cars.
Of course, the W198 SL story started with the dramatic gullwing coupe derivative, but it is the Roadster that started the SL’s open-top “dynasty”.
Introduced in 1957, the 300 SL Roadster was slightly heavier than the coupe, but by no means a slow car. It had 158kW on tap from its M198 6-cylinder engine - enough for a 250kph top speed.
When production finally stopped in 1963, Mercedes-Benz had built 1 858 of the 300 SL Roadster, and these days they are highly prized by collectors all over the world.
This print, featuring images created exclusively for SentiMETAL, stunningly depicts the W198 II Roadster in detail and is limited to numbered 50 copies (only in A2).
