Though the 996 had to endure plenty of criticism from Porsche afficionados when it was launched, it evolved into a very good sportscar indeed, courtesy of Porsche's tradition of continuous improvement. 

The facelifted 911 Carrera features a naturally-aspirated 3.6L flat-six that produces 235kW, enough grunt to get to 100kph in 4.9 seconds and to a top speed of 286kph. The engine is mated with a six-speed manual transmission.
